Woods Memorial Baptist Church
WOODS MEMORIAL BAPTIST CHURCH
Woods memorial Baptist Church is located about 2.4 miles from highway 215 on Tanasee Gap Road in Balsam Grove.
The church was established on September 30, 1951 after what was probably the first tent revival in Balsam Grove. Woods Memorial was started in a shack on the opposite side of the road from where the church was built. The shack was sometimes called the bullpen. Services were held in the shack until the church building was completed.
A dedication service was held on November 25, 1954. Rev. Nathan Chapman conducted the dedication service. Rev. F. A. Raines became the first pastor.
The original building was blocks. Later bathrooms and two Sunday School rooms were added and the church was bricked.
